A London hire company contacted us at 01.30 AM to report a Range Rovers stolen from South West London following an “interference alert” message from the vehicles wired OEM tracker. We sent a signal to activate the Automatrics MTrack theft recovery tracker on its next connection at 06.00AM. In the meantime the police were contacted and the client went to the last Land Rover tracking system position before it stopped reporting, manually searching the local area. The Automatrics MTrack received our message and connected to report the stolen Range Rovers location in a parking bay on a quiet residential street in SW17, just a mile or so from the theft location. The car’s steering lock had been removed with a grinder with some minor impact damage to the front bumper and the rear quarter interior panel had been removed to gain access to disable the Land Rover OEM tracker. The covert Automatrics tracking system remained undiscovered. The car was located aby the hire car company representative who was still in the area at 06.40. Automatrics would strongly urge all Range Rover owners (and particularly those in London) that they should not rely on Land Rover OEM trackers to find their stolen vehicles, most often these are fitted in known locations and they are being removed in theft situations.
